CSTP Growth and Development
Long Term GoalMy first long term goal is taken directly from CSTP 1: Promote students' critical and creative thinking and analysis through activities that provide opportunities for inquiry, problem solving, responding to and framing meaningful questions, and reflection. I have assessed myself at a Level 4 - Integrating, in this area, which states, "Supports students to initiate critical thinking through independently developing questions, posing problems and reflecting on multiple perspectives". My determination is to reach Level 5 - Innovating, which states, "Facilitates systematic opportunities for students to apply critical thinking by designing structured inquires into complex problems". I am determined to facilitate these inquiries because I know that this is the best way to raise young people so they can successfully tackle the challenges that they will face as 21st century global citizens, as well as raising future generations of universal critical thinkers! My second long-term goal is focusing on pushing myself further within CSTP 5, particularly in 5.5 and 5.7. I want to support students in refining, analyzing and setting their own goals, with the support from myself and their families. |
Compare and ContrastCOMPARE
Pre-inquiry assessment top 5 strongest areas: 1. CSTP 3 - Understanding and Organizing Subject Matter for Student Learning 2. CSTP 6 - Developing as a Professional Educator 3. CSTP 5 Assessing Students for Learning 4. CSTP 1 Engaging and Supporting All Students in Learning 5. CSTP 2 Creating and Maintaining Effective Environments for Student Learning Post-inquiry assessment top 5 strongest areas: 1. CSTP 2 Creating and Maintaining Effective Environments for Student Learning 2. CSTP 1 - Engaging and Supporting ALL Students in Learning 3. CSTP 3 - Understanding and Organizing Subject Matter for Student Learning 4. CSTP 4 - Planning Instruction and Designing Learning Experiences for All Students 5. CSTP 6 - Developing as a Professional Educator My self-assessment results, pre and post inquiry, reveal that I believe CSTP 3, 6, 1 and 2 are all within my top five strengths. CONTRAST In my pre-inquiry results, CSTP 3 was in the first position and CSTP was in my second position. My post-inquiry reveals that I found CSTP 2 to be my top strength, while CSTP 1 was my second top strength. This reflection does not surprise me, especially since two of my four inquiries focused on CSTP 2 and the other two inquiries focused on CSTP 1. The biggest change was that CSTP 3, which has to do with assessing students for learning, had moved out of my top 5 altogether. |

1. CSTP 6 - Developing as a Professional Educator OPPORTUNITIES Although I have strengths within the CSTPs listed above, there is always room for growth and development within them, especially because each year I will have new cohorts of students and I must have a solid understanding of my students in order to maintain strength in the areas. The area for me that was no longer in my top five strengths was CSTP 5, "Assessing Students for Learning". The areas within this CSTP that I plan to worked toward is: 5.5 Involving all students in self-assessment, goal setting, and monitoring progress
